Amy McMillen, director of the S&T Advising Center, has been a dedicated part of the S&T community for almost 20 years.
She joined S&T in 1996 and has worked in roles with the Regional Professional Development Center and the Miner Alumni Association. She left S&T for seven years and returned in 2014 as an advisor to graduate students. She joined the S&T Advising Center in 2016 as an advisor. In January she became interim director, and she was named director of the center on June 1.
Amy spends her days overseeing a team of six full-time advisors and provides advising services to first-year computer science and engineering students. She also oversees the On-Track program, a student-led program to help struggling students get back on track for academic success. The center serves approximately 1,800 students.
Amy says the people are what she loves most about working at S&T. She enjoys learning from the students as they are the “best of the best.”

Would you like to recommend a staff member for eConnection’s staff spotlight feature? Would you like to be in the spotlight? Let us know! Email news@mst.edu with your name and the name of the person you would like to see featured (it can be yourself). If you’d like to tell us about yourself, fill out a staff spotlight questionnaire.
