This year’s Opening Week freshmen design project, Project X, will be sponsored by Union Pacific. The company will have representatives on the S&T campus during Opening Week to judge projects and help new students with various programs. Opening Week begins on Saturday, Aug. 11, and runs through Friday, Aug. 17.

Transfer Transitions (orientation day for transfer students) will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, in Room 120 Bulter-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. New transfer students will participate in a design project and competition, meet faculty and staff in their departments, and learn about S&T campus life. “The Spirit of Change,” a movement of students inspiring students, was founded by new student programs in 2010. Since then, approximately $3,500 has been raised to provide random acts of kindness from students to fellow students throughout the semester.
