S&T’s Accent Modification Program classes are designed to advance cultural diversity and understanding by improving overall communication between students and faculty, increasing active participation in campus dialogue, and promoting confident communication. Speech/language pathologist Vicki Hopgood conducts the classes on an individual basis for 13 weeks. Hopgood covers a broad range of topics, including listening skills, public speaking, American intonation, pronunciation of difficult English vowels and consonants, classroom management and effective email communication.

There is no charge for this service.
Interested ranked faculty, tenured or tenure-track faculty should obtain a referral from their department chair and enroll directly with Hopgood at hopgoodv@mst.edu.
