On Saturday, a shooter opened fire inside the Tree of Life Congregation Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, killing 11 people. As of fall 2018, there is a new minor available for enrollment for students in any degree program: linguistics. In spring 2019, two linguistics courses are available for enrollment: English 3304: Language in Society and English 3302: History and Structure of the English Language.
