Campus to close due to winter weather

Due to potentially hazardous winter weather conditions, the Missouri University of Science and Technology campus will be closed Friday, Jan. 13. Only employees who are considered situationally critical should report to work on Friday. Missouri S&T officials also urge students to avoid traveling to campus on Friday and recommend students review the weather conditions along their travel routes before taking any actions. Winter weather may affect campus operations

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch affecting Rolla and the surrounding area. It is likely that freezing rain will develop overnight Thursday, Jan. 12, into Friday, Jan. 13. University officials will continue to monitor weather conditions and their potential impact on campus operations. Portion of Emerson Hall to reopen for classes

The west side of Emerson Hall will be open for classes this semester, which will begin Tuesday, Jan. 17. The east side of Emerson Hall will remain closed until further notice, following a fire on the roof of the structure on Dec. 8. Faculty and staff who previously worked in Emerson Hall will continue to work in relocated offices.

‘Active shooter’ response training on campus today

University Police is hosting response training for approximately 40 law enforcement officers Wednesday, Jan. 11, on Missouri S&T’s campus. Participants will take classes in Bertelsmeyer Hall during the morning and undergo scenario training with replica weapons in Harris Hall in the afternoon.

Students offering Aladdin dance camp for children

Police to host Special Olympics fundraiser

University Police is a proud supporter of the Special Olympics Missouri. As a fundraiser, the police department is selling 2017 Special Olympics torch run T-shirts. The shirts cost $15 for short-sleeve shirts, sizes medium and large for youth and ranging from small to 2XL for adults. Short-sleeve shirts for sizes 3XL to 6XL cost $20. Long-sleeve shirts, ranging in adult sizes from small to 2X, cost $20. To purchase a shirt, please contact University Police Lt. Oscar Kemp by email or call 341-4300.
