Students display art in library

Drop by the Curtis Laws Wilson Library to view the works of 48 student artists and vote on your favorite piece of art. The winner will receive the People’s Choice Award and a prize of $100. The library art committee also will award a Best of Show prize of $200 and an honorable mention prize of $50.

United Way campaign underway

United Way of Phelps County campaign packets were recently mailed to Missouri S&T faculty, staff and retirees. Employee contributions help several non-profit organizations supported by the United Way, including CASA, Habitat for Humanity, Rolla Nutrition Site, 4-H, Ozark Trails Boy Scouts, Senior Companions, Salvation Army and St. James Caring Center. Employees can donate via payroll deduction as well as by check.

Annual Enrollment is your yearly opportunity to decide which insurance works best for you. Enroll now through myHR at https://myhr.umsystem.edu/. Make sure you click “submit” and receive a confirmation email. All benefit-eligible employees must enroll between Monday, Oct. 17, and Friday, Oct. 28. If you do not enroll, you will default to the Healthy Savings Plan, pay taxes on your monthly premiums and will not be eligible for the tobacco-free premium discount. Physical defense for women classes begin Oct. 23

The Missouri S&T Police Department is offering rape, aggression, defense (R.A.D.) training for women. The classes are free for Missouri S&T students, employees and dependents. Classes will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Sundays, Oct. 23, Oct. 30, Nov. 6 and Nov. 13, in the Student Recreation Center in the Gale Bullman Building.

Faculty invited to open forum

Faculty members are invited to an open forum regarding the vice provost and dean search process 1-2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, in the Missouri Ozark Room in Havener Center. The topic of discussion will be legal requirements and national best practices related to 10 steps discussed at a recent Faculty Senate meeting. Guest speakers will include Marsha Fischer, counsel for the University of Missouri System, and Michael Aldana, partner at Quarles & Brady, LLP and legal consultant to IBIS, a diversity and organizational development firm.
