Hilmas elected to World Academy of Ceramics
Dr. Greg Hilmas, Curators’ Distinguished Professor of ceramic engineering, was elected and inducted as an Academician into the World Academy of Ceramics. The Academician distinction is to “reward and honor individuals who have made an international renown significant contribution to the advancement of ceramics culture, science and technology.”

Dr. Heath Pickerill, assistant teaching professor in civil, architectural and environmental engineering and director of Missouri’s Local Technical Assistant Program (LTAP), was elected to the president’s track of the National Local Technical Assistance Program Association (NLTAPA) at the group’s annual conference held recently in Seattle.

In 2019, Bridgette Betz, director of student financial assistance at Missouri S&T, earned the FAAC designation through the Certified Financial Aid Administrator Program by the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators. She was one of the first 75 financial aid administrators in the United States to earn this designation.

Dr. Yue-Wern Huang, professor of biological sciences, was invited to visit the College of Science of National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) on June 16-17 to give a scientific presentation as well as interact with faculty and students for possible graduate studies and research collaboration at Missouri S&T.

Missouri S&T is ranked fifth in the nation for students interested in engineering and is ranked first in Missouri, according to Money’s “Best Colleges for Engineering Majors.”

S&T team takes third in international competition
The Mars Rover Design Team at Missouri S&T was among the top finishers in the annual University Rover Challenge, an international competition held at the Mars Desert Research Station in Hanksville, Utah. The Missouri S&T team came in third overall in the event, which was won by a team from the University of Michigan.
