Dr. John J. Myers, professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering and deputy director of the Missouri Center for Transportation Innovation, delivered an invited special presentation at the 2022 Fall American Concrete Institute (ACI) Conference Tuesday, Oct. 24, in Dallas, Texas. The presentation was part of the four-part session, Concrete Olympics: Design, Construction, Evaluation, and Repair of Concrete Bridges and Structures with experts from around the world including members of the American Concrete Institute, Korea Concrete Institute, Taiwan Concrete Institute, and International Federation for Structural Concrete.
Myers’s presentation, titled “Performance-Based Electrochemical Analysis of an Innovative Magnesium Phosphate Cement Coating to Mitigate Mild Steel Bar Corrosion,” was the fifth of six invited speeches in the session This presentation involved technical work by Myers and researchers, Dr. Fan Zhang, a 2022 Ph.D. graduate in civil engineering, and Dr. Hongyan Ma, associate professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering. Myers also delivered a second invited presentation, titled “In-Situ Examination of GFRP Bars in Bridge Decks after Two Decades of Field Exposure: How Durable Are They?” with co-author Dr. Ali Al-Khafaji, a 2021 Ph.D. graduate in civil engineering.
