Dr. Melanie Mormile, special assistant to the provost for faculty affairs and professor of biological sciences, was named an American Society for Microbiology Distinguished Lecturer (ASMDL) for a two-year term. The ASMDL program annually selects a scientifically diverse group of lecturers to deliver lectures at ASM branch meetings throughout the country. Lecturers are chosen through a competitive nomination process, and only the most distinguished lecturers and researchers are chosen to participate.

A group of students and faculty from Missouri S&T’s Enterprise Resource Planning program attended Deloitte’s Next Generation SAP Analytics event on Friday, April 22, at Deloitte’s St. Louis offices. Attending were Dr. Bih-Ru Lea, associate professor of business and information technology, Dr. Craig Claybaugh, assistant professor of business and information technology, Samual Holtmeier, Jessica Phung, Robin Ramsey, Christopher Moody, Bonnie Wilt and Lorenzo Lewis.

Kellie Grasman, lecturer in engineering management and systems engineering, has earned a best paper award from the American Society for Engineering Education for its engineering economy division. She will be presented with a plaque and cash award for the distinction.

Amy Skyles, instructional designer in educational technology, was invited to present at the Hybrid Learning Symposium in Kansas City, Missouri, on the Delivering Experiential Labs To All (DELTA) project.

Hadi Fahrangi, Ph.D. student in systems engineering, has been selected for the IISE ISERC Best Paper-Operations Research Track — at an upcoming annual meeting. Fahrangi’s paper is titled “A Separation Method for the Multi-objective Set Covering Problem” and is advised by Dr. Dincer Konur, assistant professor of engineering management and systems engineering.
