Tutoring in residence hall will begin next week

The Burns & McDonnell Student Success Center will begin offering free tutoring at Thomas Jefferson Residence Hall 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2. Tutoring will be available to all residential life students as well as those living in Christian Campus Fellowship and Greek housing through Friday, May 6.

Flood control projects will be discussed Feb. 7

Cory Tabbert and John Vest with the St. Louis District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will discuss their work on flood control projects in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, an area that has long experienced devastating flooding, at noon Monday, Feb. 7, in Room 121 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. The talk is part of the civil, architectural and environmental engineering department’s Water Seminar Series.

Collaboratory is open for spring 2022 semester

The S&T Collaboratory is a technology-enhanced humanities lab developed to support and share interdisciplinary research in G2 of the Humanities and Social Sciences Building. It includes the DeWitt Gallery for public displays, a collaborative space equipped with vibe boards and a 3D scanner, and an audiovisual recording room with Zoom and podcast equipment.

Proposed manufacturing research and development facility included in governor’s initial budget

The Missouri Protoplex facility is among the projects included in Missouri Gov. Mike Parson’s proposed budget for higher education capital improvement projects. The facility will serve as the anchor building for the university’s planned manufacturing technology and innovation campus to be constructed north of Interstate 44.

Dolan to speak on food and cattle in literature tomorrow

Dr. Kathryn Dolan, associate professor of English and technical communication will discuss her research on the narratives of food and cattle in literature at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, in Room 201 of the Humanities and Social Sciences Building. Dolan is the author of the recently published book, Cattle Country. Her talk is part of Sigma Tau Delta’s brown bag series. The event can also be attended via Zoom.
