Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. today (Tuesday, June 9) in the St. James Chapel of the James and Gahr Mortuary, 117 Seymour St. in St. James, Missouri. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, in the same location.
Mr. Scantlin joined the staff of Missouri S&T in April 1999 and retired in September 2010. He is the husband of Betty Scantlin, telecommunication IT analyst in information technology.

He will succeed current CIO Greg Smith, who announced earlier this year that he will be leaving Missouri S&T at the end of May.
Read More »Dr. David Enke, chair of engineering management and systems engineering since 2012, will step down from that role effective June 30. He will remain on campus in a teaching and research capacity. Dr. Suzanna Long, associate professor of engineering management and systems engineering, will serve as interim chair.
Read More »Dr. Samuel Frimpong, chair of mining and nuclear engineering and the Robert H. Quenon Chair of Mining Engineering, will step down from that position but will continue to serve until a new chair is found. Dr. Ian Ferguson, vice provost and dean for the College of Engineering and Computing, plans to initiate a nationwide search for a new chair soon.
Read More »The Missouri State Highway Patrol training in the Quadrangle’s Kelly Hall has been rescheduled for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7. As part of the training, they will be using simulated ammunition that could sound like gunfire.
Signs will be posted to notify people in the area about the training and a member of the Missouri S&T Police Department will be on sight during the training.
Read More »Dr. Pi-yu “Beatrice” Cheng, former teaching associate in chemistry and wife of Dr. Franklin Y. Cheng, Curators’ Professor emeritus of civil engineering at Missouri S&T, died on Dec. 19. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at the Santa Barbara Cemetery Chapel in Santa Barbara, California. Arrangements are under the direction of McDermott-Crockett Mortuary. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara with Sansum Clinic or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Dr. Cheng joined the Missouri S&T faculty in 1985 as a visiting assistant professor in life sciences and later became a teaching associate in chemistry.
Read More »All bike racks on the main Missouri S&T campus will be replaced during Thanksgiving Break. Students, faculty and staff must remove their bikes from these racks no later than Friday, Nov. 21. Campus bike racks will be unavailable until Monday, Dec. 1. Any bikes remaining on main campus bike racks after Nov. 21 will be taken to the lost-and-found at University Police. Bike racks at residence halls will remain in use during the holiday.
