Dan Uetrecht, director of networks and computing in Missouri S&T’s information technology division, has been named interim chief information officer for the university effective June 1. He will succeed current CIO Greg Smith, who announced earlier this year that he will be leaving Missouri S&T at the end of May.
“Dan has a strong, proven track record of outstanding leadership within IT,” says Dr. Robert Marley, S&T provost. “He also possesses a deep technical knowledge and wealth of experience that will be valuable during this important transition.”
Uetrecht has been a member of the IT staff for more than 32 years. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in computer science from Missouri S&T in 1982 and 1989, respectively.
Marley plans to appoint a search committee for the CIO position soon.
