The Graduate Faculty Council will award its third annual awards for Outstanding Contributions to Graduate Studies and Graduate Staff Excellence Award at a banquet Friday, April 28. Nominations for the awards are due Friday, March 17, to Stacey Fuller. Please limit nomination justifications to one page. More information may be requested in case of ties. Grad fair at S&T Store kicks off March 22

The S&T Store will hold a grad fair from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, and Thursday, March 23. Save 10 percent on caps and gowns, tassels and diploma frames. Meet with a Balfour ring and announcement representative. Visit with staff members from the registrar’s office and career opportunities and employer relations (COER). Enter to win a cap and gown set, diploma frame and other prizes.

Celebrate St. Pat’s with the Miner Alumni Association

The Miner Alumni Association invites all faculty and staff to celebrate the 109th Best Ever St. Pat’s Celebration Saturday, March 18, at Hasselmann Alumni House. The schedule includes:

  • Pre-parade breakfast, 9-10:30 a.m.

No registration required is required. The first-come, first-served breakfast is free and open to the community.

  • Pat’s Parade, 11 a.m.
  • Post-parade pig roast, noon-2 p.m.

Registration is required and limited tickets are available. Tickets cost $20 per adult, $10 per child ages 6-12 and are free for children ages up to age 5.

Fill up on green pancakes for alternative break fundraiser

Grab some green pancakes and hang out with the St. Pat’s Court 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday, March 12, at the Delta Sigma Phi House. Fraternity members will serve all-you-can-eat green pancakes and Tang. All proceeds will go to the Miner Challenge Alternative Break Program. Tickets cost $7 at the door for adults and $4 for children up to age 12. The Delta Sigma Phi House is located at the corner of 8th and Rolla streets. Look for the green balloons and use the Rolla Street entrance.

Physical defense classes begin April 2

University Police will offer rape awareness defense (RAD) training in April. The course is free for Missouri S&T students, staff and faculty. Classes will be held noon to 3 p.m. Sundays, April 2, April 9, April 16 and April 23. The first class on April 2 will be at the University Police department.

Nominate the 2017 Woman of the Year

Nominations are being accepted for the 2017 Woman of the Year as well as the inaugural Dr. Elizabeth Cummins Women’s Advocate Award. Nominations are due Friday, March 24.

  • The Woman of the Year Award recognizes female, full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty who serve as valuable role models for female students at Missouri S&T. Recipients contribute to the university through their research, scholarship, teaching and service. For more information and to submit a nomination, please visit mst.edu/WOY.
  • The Dr. Elizabeth Cummins Women’s Advocate Award has been created to honor an S&T employee, regardless of gender or job title, who demonstrates commitment to women on campus through mentorship and advocacy. The award was named in honor of Dr. Elizabeth Cummins, Missouri S&T’s first Woman of the Year and a professor emerita of English and technical communication. North entrance of Schrenk Hall to temporarily close
