Dr. Oran Allan Pringle, Curators’ Distinguished Teaching Professor of physics, died early Friday, March 24, after a short battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, in the Carver-Turner Room of the Havener Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the S&T physics department or to cancer research.

It is time to request the software you would like to use in campus computer learning centers (CLCs) for the Fall 2017 semester. To access the application, visit the EdTech CLC website and click the “submit request” button. Requests are due by 5 p.m. Friday, April 21. Please submit software requests for all of your classes — even if you have more than one class that accesses the requested software. This process helps the staff ensure enough licenses for software requests.

All non-tenure-track faculty members are invited to a get-together 4-5 p.m. Monday, April 10, in the John O. Farmer Lounge of Hasselmann Alumni House. This is an informal gathering to meet, network and visit with colleagues as well as representatives from the provost’s office and the dean’s offices of both colleges. The office of graduate studies offers a new way for graduate students to voice concerns or pose questions regarding anything related to the graduate student experience. To make anonymous comments or suggestions:

• Submit your thoughts online. To access the form, go to at mst.edu and click the link near the bottom of the page.
• Leave a note in the locked box at the Curtis Laws Wilson Library. The box is on the left side of the front counter.
• Leave a note in the locked box in the hallway outside the office of graduate studies, Room G-8 Norwood Hall.

The Missouri S&T Solar House Design Team will host a 5K green run/walk Saturday, April 22. Registration will open at 11 a.m. and the race will begin at noon at the Solar Village, on the corner of 10th Street and Poole Avenue. A green run is similar to a color run — participants will begin with white clothes and get decorated with paint powder as they complete the course. To celebrate Earth Day, it will be green powder.

University of Missouri System’s accounts payable shared services team will present “Tips for Using the Supplier Module and Creating Payment Requests” at two sessions Monday, April 17, in Room 235 of the Engineering Management Building. The training is designed for employees who work directly with these transactions, approve them or supervise employees who do. Space is limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Choose to attend training at 10-11:30 a.m. or 1-2:30 p.m. Register on the accounts payable shared services site.

Join other instructors in discussing and seeing versatile active learning strategies that can be used for various class sizes and disciplines at “Developing Versatile Active Learning Strategies for Your Course.” The session will be held noon-1 p.m. Thursday, April 6, in the Missouri-Ozark Room of the Havener Center. Participants will also learn about Missouri S&T’s growing connection with KEEN, a network of university partners working to transform U.S. engineering education.
