Scare up some fun at staff event on Halloween

Employees work hard and Staff Council wants to say “thanks” at an appreciation event for staff 9:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, at the Puck. Come enjoy snacks and hot drinks by a campfire, bring a decorated or carved pumpkin for a contest and dress up for a costume contest. The event will also include prize drawings and games.

Update on diversity programs, Title IX

As part of the organizational changes that began July 1, the student diversity, outreach and women’s programs (SDOWP) now reports to S&T’s chief diversity officer instead of enrollment management. To better reflect the department’s mission, it has been renamed Student Diversity Initiatives. The home for this department will be S&T’s Diversity House, located at 605 W. 11th Street. The brick house was formerly named Student Diversity, Outreach and Women’s Programs.

Location change announced for Oct. 23 faculty workshop

The faculty workshop, “Troubleshooting Teams” will be held 3-4:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, in Room 206 of the Interdisciplinary Engineering Building. The location was recently changed from Norwood Hall to the Interdisciplinary Engineering Building.

Marcia Lane, Total Rewards generalist in human resources, will be available to assist employees signing up for 2018 annual enrollment in Computer Lab 105 in Centennial Hall tomorrow and next week. Drop in at one of the following times if you would like assistance:

  • 9 a.m.-noon Thursday, Oct. 19
  • 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23
  • 9 a.m.-noon Thursday, Oct 26

Annual enrollment is open now and will end Friday, Oct. 27. It is your opportunity to decide which insurance plan works best for you and make any changes to plans and coverage for 2018. You must enroll in or waive medical insurance, or you will be automatically enrolled in the Healthy Savings Plan at the after-tax, non-discounted rate. Course redesign grants available

All regular full-time tenured, tenure-track and non-tenure-track faculty at Missouri S&T are invited to apply for mini-grants of up to $5,000 to help design or redesign an undergraduate course that will fit within the Latin American studies for technical applications (LASTA) minor. A letter of intent is due to the Center for Educational Research and Teaching Innovation (CERTI) at certi@mst.edu by Friday, Nov. 17.
