The University of Missouri System will host the Show Me Title IX Conference June 4-5 in Columbia. It is open to faculty and staff who work on UM System campuses and professionals from other Missouri colleges, universities and K-12 classrooms. Register online by Monday, April 30. If you’re seeking reading material or audio books for your spring break, check out the Curtis Laws Wilson Library’s Overdrive selections. Digital audio books and e-books are available for library card holders (S&T students, faculty and staff) at  https://mobius.overdrive.com or by downloading the Overdrive app. Popular titles include Game of Thrones, Big Little Lies, The Handmaiden’s Tale, Harry Potter and Stephen King’s It. Spring break hours planned for IT Help Desk, Box Office

The IT Help Desk and the Leach Theatre Box Office will operate with reduced hours during spring break next week, Monday, March 26, through Friday, March 30.

  • The IT Help Desk’s walk-in center will be open 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The Help Desk phones will continue to be staffed 8 a.m.-5 p.m. If you have questions, please call 341-4357 (HELP), visit the help desk on the first floor of the Curtis Laws Wilson Library, or submit an online ticket.
  • The box office will be open 9 a.m.-1 p.m. during the break and resume regular hours of 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, April 2.

Recommendations needed for student writing consultants

Grad fair wraps up today

The S&T Store’s grad fair began yesterday and will end at 4:30 p.m. today (Thursday, March 22). During the event, save 10 percent on caps and gowns and diploma frames. Students can pick up personalized graduation announcements 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and get senior portraits taken for the yearbook 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Enter to win prizes, including a regalia set (cap, gown and tassel) or a diploma frame. Visit with staff from the registrar’s office and career opportunities and employer relations (COER).

Flags to fly at half-staff

By order of Gov. Eric Greitens, all flags at all Missouri state and government offices will be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset Thursday, March 22, in honor of Cloria Brown, a Missouri State Representative, who died March 18.

Dr. Barbara Hale retires

After 46 years of teaching and research in the physics department at Missouri S&T, Dr. Barbara N. Hale has retired. In 1973, Hale was one of the first two women to join the Missouri S&T physics faculty. The physics department honored Hale with a retirement celebration in early March. Read more.

Candidate forums planned today, Wednesday

Students, faculty and staff are invited to meet the candidates for Missouri S&T’s vice chancellor for research and dean of graduate studies (VCRDGS) during open forums. The first candidate’s open forum was held March 13. The next forums will be held:

  • Candidate 2, 2:30-3:30 p.m. Monday, March 19, in St. Pat’s A of the Havener Center
  • Candidate 3, 2:30-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, in St. Pat’s B of the Havener Center

Prior to each candidate’s visit, the candidate’s bio and curriculum vitae will be posted at provost.mst.edu/vcrdgs-search. Attendees may also provide feedback at provost.mst.edu/vcrdgs-search following each forum.
