With the increasing popularity of the mobile game “Pokemon Go,” University Police remind students to be aware of their surroundings when walking. Explore Pokemon Go on campus, but be safe while playing. There have been reports in Missouri of suspects using the app’s geolocation feature to target unwitting victims. Keep in mind the following safety tips when walking:

Healthy for Life is sponsoring a walking challenge for all faculty and staff of Missouri S&T. This eight-week challenge has participants put their steps together to achieve 100,000,000 steps.

Joe’SS was upgraded this past weekend to a new version of PeopleTools. The upgrade went well and Joe’SS is back up and running. It is suggested that users clear their cache on their computer to ensure that the new version runs smoothly. Internet Explorer users will need to redo any bookmarks referencing Joe’SS.

Four “Innovation in Education” grants have been awarded to Missouri S&T faculty for 2016-17 as part of a new grant program funded by the Innovation Team. The program is administered through the Center for Educational Research and Teaching Innovation (CERTI).

Elections for 2016-17 vacant positions on Staff Council are here. Staff Council will have five vacant positions to fill. To nominate someone for Staff Council, visit the Staff Council website. You may nominate yourself or any other eligible staff member at Missouri S&T. Any “benefit eligible” employee with at least one (1) year service before July 1, 2016, is eligible for election to the Staff Council. Nominations (by electronic form) must be received no later than Friday, July 15. Election procedures and a list of current council members can be found on the Staff Council website.

Tau Kappa Epsilon (TKE) will host a philanthropy event noon-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at the TKE House, locate at 1107 N. State St. (between Bertelsmeyer Hall and Campus Support Facility).
