The RE-CAST (Research on Concrete Applications for Sustainable Transportation) University Transportation Center newsletter is now available online. RE-CAST is a Tier-1 University Transportation Center led by Missouri S&T in partnership with Rutgers University, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Miami and Southern University at Baton Rouge. Student Veterans Association luncheon

The Student Veterans Association is holding its first speakers luncheon to discuss veterans’ issues on campus and in the community at noon Thursday, March 20, in the St. Pat’s Ballroom of the Havener Center. The group is inviting members of the local VFW, Congressional Representative Jason Smith and others to attend. RSVP at mstsva@mst.edu, as food is limited. This is a first-come, first-served event. Help the group fund the food by purchasing a $5 raffle ticket for an iPad Mini. Group members will sell tickets during lunch the days prior to the event in the Havener Center atrium.

International travel resources

The University of Missouri provides two types of insurance coverage for faculty and staff who travel internationally for university purposes. This insurance coverage is provided at no cost to the traveler or university department. AIG coverage includes travel accident and sickness benefits. MedEx coverage includes evacuation and transportation services. MedEx also provides an online location for travelers to store electronic medical information, copy of passport, travel schedule, etc. Faculty and staff who will travel internationally may contact Carla Clayton, in international affairs, at 341-6875 for details of the coverage, identification card and emergency contact information.

Ignite Rolla wrap-up

Ignite Rolla, a TED-like event hosted for the first time by Council of Graduate Students in collaboration with Student Council and Toastmasters International on Feb. 26, 2014, was a success.
