The final open forum to discuss plans to implement a tobacco-free policy for campus will be held from 3-4 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, in the Missouri-Ozark Room of the Havener Center. Dr. K. Krishnamurthy, vice provost for research since 2007, has resigned from the position effective Monday, Jan. 25. A member of the Missouri S&T faculty since 1986, Krishnamurthy will return to the mechanical and aerospace engineering faculty next fall following a sabbatical.

103SharesDr. John Myers, professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering and associate dean for academic affairs in the College of Engineering and Computing, has been named acting vice provost and dean for the college. Myers’ appointment took effect Thursday, Jan. 7.

Dr. Joel Burken, Curators’ Professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering, has been named interim chair of that department effective Dec. 21. Dr. Douglas R. Carroll, who has served as acting chair of the department since September, will return to his full-time duties as director of the Cooperative Engineering Program between Missouri S&T and Missouri State University in Springfield.

The first of three additional open forums for discussion of the tobacco-free campus initiative will be held from 2-3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, in Room 125 of Butler-Carlton Hall. All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to attend and to share their perspectives on the initiative.
