Dr. K. Krishnamurthy, vice provost for research since 2007, has resigned from the position effective Monday, Jan. 25. A member of the Missouri S&T faculty since 1986, Krishnamurthy will return to the mechanical and aerospace engineering faculty next fall following a sabbatical.
“It has been an honor and privilege to serve as Missouri S&T’s vice provost for research and I am grateful for all the support I have received over the years,” Krishnamurthy says.
During Krishnamurthy’s nine-year tenure as vice provost for research, new externally sponsored awards reached an all-time high of $52.3 million in fiscal year 2010. Total externally sponsored expenditures increased by 25 percent – from $32.3 million in fiscal year 2007 to $40.3 million in fiscal year 2015 – and invention disclosures increased by 110 percent, from 21 in fiscal year 2007 to 44 in fiscal year 2015. Income from licensing increased by 27 percent, from $380,000 in fiscal year 2007 to an all-time high of $483,000 in fiscal year 2015.
An interim vice provost for research will be named soon, says Dr. Robert J. Marley, provost and executive vice chancellor for academic affairs.
