The Nepali Students Association (NSA) at Missouri S&T, a newly established campus organization, hosted its inaugural celebration of Nepali New Year 2082 on Saturday, April 19, in Emerson Hall. The event drew over 150 attendees. Originally capped at 120 registrants, the group expanded the event to accommodate additional guests.
The program opened with remarks from faculty advisor Dr. Satish Puri, associate professor of computer science, followed by a presentation on Nepal and the significance of the Nepali New Year by association vice president Manish Anand Yadav.
Cultural performances featured group and solo dances, musical performances, and a Nepal trivia session. Performers wore traditional attire that represents Nepal’s diverse ethnic backgrounds. The program was coordinated by Barkha Gautam, and Aditya Yadav and Aarya Siwakoti served as hosts.
Attendees sampled traditional Nepali cuisine, including momo dumplings and selroti, which were popular among guests.
As the event concluded, NSA President Ganesh Sapkota expressed his appreciation, saying, “I want to extend my deepest gratitude to all attendees, performers, volunteers and supporters. Your enthusiasm and dedication have made our club’s debut a resounding success.”
