The ADVANCE program announces a new opportunity for faculty to contribute to efforts to ensure that S&T provides a welcoming and supportive campus climate for all. A recent grant from the Henry Luce Foundation will support up to three tenured or non-tenure-track associate or full professors who excel in their faculty responsibilities and who are committed to making Missouri S&T a destination of choice.
Selected faculty will serve as members of an advisory council for the S&T ADVANCE Program; the council will meet at least monthly to provide guidance and support for initiatives related to campus climate, including new initiatives funded by the Luce Foundation grant. These faculty will also have opportunities to lead initiatives, including programs focused on mentorship training, dependent-care support, faculty recruitment practices, faculty fellowships, programs for departments to develop supportive policies, and leadership development workshops. These positions will begin Monday, Sept. 1. They are renewable for up to five years and provide an annual supplement of $7,000.
Faculty selected for this program have the option to be named a Clare Boothe Luce Professor if they are in a STEM discipline, which aligns with the Luce Foundation’s strict rules. Faculty in other disciplines have the option to be named an ADVANCE Professor.
