The Student Success Center (SSC) provides academic support services to help students thrive through peer tutoring, success coaching, and academic workshops.

S&T tutoring

To support student success, the center offers multiple forms of peer tutoring:

  • Drop-in tutoring: Flexible, on-demand support available for various subjects.
  • Group sessions (formerly LEAD): Structured, peer-led review sessions that require faculty involvement.
  • Supplemental instruction (SI): Targeted support for select courses to reinforce key concepts.

Group sessions and fall 2025 planning

Starting this semester, LEAD sessions have transitioned to group sessions, now managed by the SSC. Each session is led by a peer leader and assigned based on course selection criteria established by the office of academic achievement and enrichment. While faculty may still request LEAD sessions through the registrar’s office, group sessions require faculty involvement – attendance at 50% of granted sessions – to ensure effectiveness.

To assist departments in planning fall 2025 tutoring support, we have outlined course selection criteria to help prioritize tutoring resources. Please share this information with your colleagues so they understand how tutoring support is determined and how they can provide input or request SSC support.

Thank you for your collaboration in supporting student success. If you have any questions or would like to discuss tutoring support for your department, contact Chyna Howell at chyna.howell@mst.edu or 573-341-7596.
