Volunteers, sponsors needed for new S&T research conference

Calls for proposals and registration are now open for Miners Solving for Tomorrow, the first undergraduate and graduate student research conference at S&T.

Hosted by University Libraries, the conference will be held Wednesday, April 2, through Friday, April 4. Faculty and staff are invited to help by judging student submissions, sponsoring and volunteering.

Wednesday, April 2: Events will highlight undergraduate research presentations and posters and will feature keynote speaker Dr. Katelyn Cooper, assistant professor in the School of Life Sciences at Arizona State University. Cooper directs the mental health division of the Research for Inclusive STEM Education Center.

Thursday, April 3: Graduate students will present their research. And the keynote speaker will be Dr. Richard Dawes, National Science Foundation program director for the Directorate for Mathematical and Physical Sciences, Division of Chemistry, and the Chemical Theory, Models and Computational Methods Program.

Friday, April 4: Dr. Kamal Khayat, vice chancellor for Research and Innovation, will lead a short program that includes a ceremony to recognize the best presentations, best posters and people’s-choice categories for both undergraduates and graduates.

Abstracts and biographies will be published for the conference, and student works will be available in Scholar’s Mine.
