Michael Murphy is a research engineering technician for the Linda and Bipin Doshi Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering. He has worked at S&T for eight years.

Can you share your professional background?
I have a machinist and construction background, and I am a graduate of State Technical College of Missouri.

What do you most enjoy about working at Missouri S&T?
What I enjoy most about working at S&T is working with students and faculty to create interesting projects — the most recent being the micro reactor project in Dr. Muthanna Al-Dahhan’s lab.

What advice would you have for a struggling student?
Find something relaxing and fun to do. For me, that would include disc golfing, kayaking, trout fishing and going swimming at river.

What is something people may be surprised to learn about you?
I love to garden. I have a quarter-acre plot, and I’m planning to expand this season by adding space for more strawberries and to experiment in growing peanuts.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Time manipulation — because it’s always great to have more time.
