Title & department: student success coordinator in the Student Success Center (SSC)

Hometown: Nixa, Missouri

Degrees/certifications: Bachelor’s degree in psychological science with minors in Spanish and business administration from William Jewell College

Began working: January 2025

What does a student success coordinator do? My role is to assist the SSC in supporting all our services, with a focus on expanding access to success coaching and enhancing programming efforts.

What do you enjoy most about your work? The thing that I am most excited about is getting to interact with the students. The college offers so many resources to students and I am excited to potentially make an impact in their lives.

What is one thing on your bucket list? One thing on my bucket list is to spend one to two months backpacking through Europe. I especially want to spend time in Croatia.

What do you do for fun? For fun, I like to be active and spend time with my family and friends. I love to travel to the mountains to ski and to the beach to surf (I can’t pick a favorite). My fiancé and I enjoy going to concerts, going to the lake, and playing pickleball or sand volleyball with friends.

What is something that others may not know about you? Most people may not know that I have been a Duke basketball fan since birth. I even wore Duke onesies in the hospital.

What is your favorite place on campus? Since this is my first week on campus and it has been snowy, I haven’t gotten to see many places around campus. I look forward to getting to explore and find my favorite spot.

What would you describe as the most important personal attributes or strengths that you bring to your work? I think that my biggest strength is my age. Being newly graduated, I am very close to the students’ age and can closely relate to what students are going through due to similar experiences during my time at college.

What is the best advice you have ever received? Focus on what is in your control because if you focus on what isn’t, then it will consume you.
