Join biological sciences for a talk by Dr. Daniel Morgan, associate professor and associate vice chair of biomedical sciences at Marshall University, at 3 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, in Room 126 of Schrenk Hall. Morgan is a candidate for the Kummer Endowed Chair position for biological sciences. He will give a summary of his current research.
The primary focus of Morgan’s research is to understand the role of neuropeptide and endocannabinoid signaling in human health and disease including cannabinoid tolerance, drug addiction and metabolic homeostasis. This work involves assessing the molecular mechanisms responsible for the development of tolerance to cannabinoid-directed drugs including delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (∆9-THC), the main psychoactive and analgesic component in cannabis.
