S&T environmental engineering alumna Saki Urushidani will share insights on seven years of work as an engineer for the city of Springfield, Missouri. The talk begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23, in Room 125 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall.
Urushidani’s work focuses on stormwater green infrastructure and integrated projects with sanitary sewer and solid waste staff. She will discuss how environmental and civil engineers can practice JEDI (justice, equity, diversity and inclusion) in their technical work and in the profession.
Urushidani earned a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering from S&T in 2016. She is a licensed professional engineer with the city of Springfield’s environmental services department. She manages the construction of green infrastructure projects and assists with municipal separate storm sewer systems permit compliance. She is chair of the American Society of Civil Engineers MOSAIC (Members of Society Advancing an Inclusive Culture) and a Water Environment Federation delegate for the Missouri Water Environment Association.
