Thirteen presenters participated in the 18th annual Intelligent Systems Center (ISC) Graduate Research Symposium on Monday, April 29.
The winners are:
- First place: Tunay Turk, a doctoral student in mechanical engineering, presented his paper, titled “Numerical Simulations and Experimental Validation of Laser Foil Printing Additive Manufacturing to Predict Melt Pool Dimensions and Cooling Rate.” His advisors are Dr. Ming Leu, the Keith and Pat Bailey Distinguished Professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering, and Dr. Jonghyun Park, associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering.
- Second place: Gabriel Rodriguez, a graduate student in industrial-organizational psychology presented his paper, titled “Dynamic Modeling of R-NetWORC and its Role in Bridging the Gap Between Those in Recovery, the Community, and the Workplace.” His advisors are Dr. Venkat Allada, professor of engineering management and systems engineering, and Dr. Clair Reynolds Kueny, associate professor of psychological science.
- Third place: Haotian Tang, a doctoral student in mechanical engineering, presented his paper, titled “Switchable Circular Dichroism Infrared Phase Change Metasurface.” His advisors are Dr. Jie Gao, advisor of mechanical and aerospace engineering and Dr. Xiaodong Yang, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering.
Each student received an award certificate signed by Dr. Frank Liou, ISC director, and Dr. Sajal Das, the Daniel St. Clair Endowed Chair Professor of computer science and symposium chair. In addition, winners received $1,000 for first place, $500 for second place, and $350 for third place.
The distinguished guest speaker was Dr. Kamal Khayat, vice chancellor for Research and Innovation.
