Kevin Walkup
Kevin Walkup, academic advisor for chemical and biochemical engineering as well as earth sciences and engineering, has been named the 2024-25 Staff Council president.
“As we look ahead to the coming year, I am thrilled to serve as the Staff Council president for 2024-25. Building on the incredible momentum we’ve achieved this year, I am committed to being a strong and effective voice for our staff, advocating for their needs, and fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment for all.”
Joining from Flagstaff, Arizona, Kevin started working at S&T in February 2022. As an academic advisor, he advises students on their path to graduation. His guidance helps students navigate their academic career, ensuring they meet their goals and complete their degrees. When asked what he enjoys most about working at S&T, Kevin highlighted the joy he finds in watching the undergraduate students he works with graduate.
Kevin believes embracing innovation and experimentation is key to personal and professional growth. He offers this advice to his fellow S&T staff: “Solving for tomorrow can mean trying new things, don’t be afraid to try.” Kevin’s most proud accomplishment is completing his bachelor’s degree in 14 years. This achievement is a testament to his perseverance and dedication to his education.
Kevin holds an MBA from Northern Arizona University with distinction, a bachelor’s degree in management, magna cum laude, and an associate degree in business. He enjoys a variety of hobbies, including being a professional napper, a LEGO enthusiast and a DIY-er. He has a passion for creativity and hands-on projects.
