Celebrating Unity and Reflection: MSA’s Inspiring Eid Al-Fitr Event at Missouri S&T

Muslim Students Association (MSA) at Missouri University of Science and Technology (S&T) recently hosted a remarkable Eid Al-Fitr celebration at the end of Ramadan 2024 (1445 AH), bringing together a diverse community of students and attendees from various backgrounds to commemorate the significance of the occasion.

The event began with heartfelt Eid Al-Fitr greetings at SDI House Lawn, setting the tone for an evening filled with collective encouragement and engagement. Attendees were captivated by a recitation of the opening chapter of the holy Quran, setting a spiritually uplifting atmosphere.

A highlight of the evening was the articulated recitation of several verses of the Quran, which added life, meaning, and purpose to the event. Hosted by the MSA President, the session also delved into MSA’s rich history, tracing its roots back to 1967 and highlighting its ongoing commitment to spreading compassion, peace, and gratitude. Addressing the purposes, a moment of silence was observed to reflect on and pray for those around the world facing adversity, affliction, hunger, and calamities.

The keynote speaker delivered thought-provoking addresses, drawing parallels between the significance of Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr and the fundamental aspects of life. Their insights were further explored through a documentary, followed by an engaging quiz session. The session continued with a powerful message from MSA Unity, inspiring all to embark on the journey of self-improvement. The event also featured a session for children, who shared enlightening stories from the lives of prophets, leaving attendees inspired by their wisdom and resilience.

Later in the evening, the MSA Vice President shared his personal journey of sustaining Islam in his daily life, emphasizing the importance of spirituality from a Muslim perspective. Then, A raffle drew excitement as winners were called to answer questions on the significance of spirituality in terms of belief and forgiveness.

Expressing gratitude to Strategic Diversity Initiatives (SDI) and the Islamic Center of Rolla, Missouri (ICRM) for their continuous care and support, MSA emphasized its goal of fostering unity and inclusion within the community. The Eid Al-Fitr celebration organized by MSA at Missouri S&T left a lasting impression, encouraging attendees to nurture the values and virtues of gratitude, solidarity, empathy, and introspection of inborn elements of life.
