Missouri Beta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi

The Missouri Beta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi initiated 22 new members into the engineering honor society on Nov. 16. Pictured are the initiates, officers and advisors.

The Missouri Beta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi, the engineering honor society, held its fall initiation on Nov. 16. One faculty member and 21 students were initiated into the organization.

The new student members are:

  • Ezekiel Allen, a junior in electrical engineering from Pleasant Hill, Missouri.
  • Ciarrah Bell, a junior in architectural engineering from Marceline, Missouri.
  • Megan Boyll, a senior in engineering management from St. Louis.
  • Luis Alfredo Sanchez Calderon, a master’s student in mining engineering from Rolla, Missouri.
  • Miles Diekemper, a senior in architectural engineering from St. Louis.
  • Jessica Frank, a junior in geological engineering from Rolla, Missouri.
  • Haven Gann, a senior in chemical engineering from Smithville, Missouri.
  • Daniel Garrison, a senior in electrical engineering from Liberty, Missouri.
  • Katelyn Griebel, a junior in geological engineering from Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.
  • Grace Hollaway, a senior in aerospace engineering from Jefferson City, Missouri.
  • Matthew Howell, a junior in electrical engineering from Olathe, Kansas.
  • Caleb Moellenhoff, a senior in chemical engineering from Ballwin, Missouri.
  • Peter Montgomery, a senior in aerospace engineering from Saint Charles, Missouri.
  • Casey Picarelli, a junior in civil engineering from Eureka, Missouri.
  • Katelynne Roberts, a senior in chemical engineering from Edwardsville, Illinois.
  • Tyler Rowden, a junior in mechanical engineering from Oak Rodge, Tennessee.
  • Jillian Schubert, a senior in engineering management from Festus, Missouri.
  • Justin Terrell, a junior in civil engineering from Warrensburg, Missouri.
  • Hayley Thomas, a junior in mechanical engineering from St. Charles, Missouri.
  • Landon Viers, a junior in nuclear engineering from Hallsville, Missouri.
  • Katherine Wise, a senior in chemical engineering from St. Joseph, Missouri.

Dr. David Borrok, vice provost and dean of the College of Engineering and Computing, is welcomed to Tau Beta Pi by Joshua Patterson, chapter president, with advisors Dr. David Bayless, chair of mechanical and aerospace engineering, and Dr. Steve Watkins, professor of electrical and computer engineering.

In addition to the new student members, Dr. David Borrok, vice provost and dean of the College of Engineering and Computing, was named Eminent Engineer. An Eminent Engineer is a membership designation for a person who has achieved distinction in engineering.

Borrok earned a bachelor’s degree in geology and geophysics from Missouri S&T, a master’s degree in economic geology from the University of Michigan, and a Ph.D. in civil engineering and geological sciences from the University of Notre Dame.

The Missouri Beta Chapter is one of the oldest student organizations on campus. It was chartered on Dec. 21, 1906, as the 17th chapter of Tau Beta Pi. The chapter has initiated over 7,500 members.
