During the summer, the University of Missouri System campuses worked together to review and revise the policies and procedures governing student and student organization conduct. Revisions to the Standard of Conduct (CRR 200.010) and the Rules of Procedures in Student and Student Organization Conduct Matters (CRR 200.020) became effective August 1, 2023.

These revisions are intended to provide greater due process, clarity, and transparency to students and student organizations, ensure our policies and procedures remain fair and equitable, and cultivate a safe and welcoming campus environment for all.

Highlights of significant changes include:

  • Marijuana manufacture, use, possession, sale, or distribution on university property and at university-sponsored or supervised activities remains prohibited based on federal law.
  • Addition of a processing fee for responsible students is $125 and student organizations is $250.
  • Violation of federal, state, foreign, or local law or ordinance with a campus nexus added.
  • Unauthorized use of artificial intelligence-generated content added to academic dishonesty.
  • Addition of retaliation, false reporting, and witness intimidation or harassment standards.
  • Clarity and specificity on factors considered in weighing student organization responsibility.
  • Expanded hazing standards and added additional clarity.
  • Standard added on aiding or inciting others to commit forms of prohibited conduct.

Members of the campus community are encouraged to review the revised policy and procedure in full detail along with the expanded summary on revisions.
