The Burns & McDonnell Student Success Center (SSC) offers a quiet environment where your student can come relax between classes, grab a cup of coffee, surf the internet, or checkout a whiteboard to use as a study tool. Throughout the semester, programs and activities are offered to help enrich their education experiences and success. For example, therapy dogs are available in the SSC every Monday from 11:30am to 12:30pm.
One-on-one coaching and individualized tutoring is provided for all students. The coaching sessions are tailored to your student’s specific needs, and they can sit down with a trained peer Success Coach and discuss a variety of topics including
Located at 198 Toomey Hall, walk-in tutoring at the Success Center, as well as via zoom, is available for many of the first-year and second-year courses offered at Missouri S&T. Available times can be found in the Spring 2022 Tutoring Schedule. Whether your student is tackling academic challenges, or is seeking ways to broaden their learning experiences at Missouri S&T, the coaches will listen, help maximize your student’s options, and are dedicated to your student’s success.
In addition, the Learning Enhancement Across Disciplines (LEAD) Program provides learning forums to students who wish to increase their understanding, improve their skills, and validate their mastery of concepts and content in a wide variety of foundational courses. Student-oriented Learning Centers are staffed by discipline-based faculty and accomplished undergraduate peer learning assistants who guide students in the learning process within an atmosphere of cooperative engagement and teamwork. LEAD also offers Exam/Test review for Physics 1/2, College Algebra, Calc 1,2,3, Diff Eqs, Statics, and Organic Chemistry. For times, locations, and zoom links visit TEST REVIEWS to help prepare for exams and tests.
Many professors encourage their students to seek help by visiting during their office hours, or by emailing them directly. Encourage your student not to delay in reaching out for help, whether it is by visiting the Success Center, participating in LEAD sessions, or contacting their teachers.
