ISC research symposium winners announced

Eighteen presenters participated in the 15th annual Intelligent Systems Center (ISC) Graduate Research Symposium on April 28. The winners are:

  • Tunay Turk won first place. His paper is titled “Automating the Laser Foil Printing Process.”
  • Tazdik Patwary Plateau won second place. His paper is titled “A Computational Analysis of Defect Generation in Thick Powder Bed Layers for High Build-rate LPBF Process.
  • Saeed Habibi won third place. His paper is titled “Efficiency Assessment of a DC House at Low and High Distribution Voltages.”

The winners’ advisors are Dr. Ming Leu, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering; Dr. Jonghyun Park, associate professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering; and Dr. Mehdi Ferdowsi, professor of electrical and computer engineering.

Each student will receive an award certificate signed by Dr. Jagannathan Sarangapani, interim ISC director, as well as Leu and Dr. Sajal Das, professor of computer science, who are symposium co-chairs.

The symposium, funded by the Intelligent Systems Center, provides graduate students the opportunity to present their research results.
