A daylong power outage is planned Thursday, March 25, to allow S&T and City of Rolla crews to prepare systems for Missouri S&T’s new entryway. Many campus buildings will be affected by the power outage, which will begin at approximately 9 a.m. and last throughout the day. Power will be restored by 8 a.m. Friday, March 26.
In the event of rain, the work will be delayed one day and the power outage will begin at approximately 9 a.m. Friday, March 26, with power being restored by 8 a.m. Saturday, March 27.
The outage date (during Spring Break) was selected to limit disruption to classes and campus activities as much as possible. Employees assigned to buildings not affected by the power outage should report to work as usual.
Buildings fed directly by Rolla Municipal Utilities will not be affected. The buildings that will NOT be affected by the power outage include:
If your building will not have electrical power on Thursday, March 25, please turn off your computer before leaving work on Wednesday, March 24.
Due to safety concerns, no employee or student should be in any building that is without power during the scheduled outage. Please make arrangements with your supervisor to work remotely or complete staff enrichment courses through MyLearn or request time off. The computer learning center (CLC) in S&T’s Campus Support Facility will be available for remote work or training. If you plan to use this option, please email environmental health and safety at EHS@mst.edu. Once room capacity is reached, a second location will be opened.
If you complete staff enrichment courses, make sure you print a copy of the course completion certificate and present to your supervisor for verification of work performed. To print a certificate from MyLearn, select “learning transcript,” then select the title of the training you completed. There is a drop-down menu indicated with three dots by the “launch” button near the top of the page. Click the three dots and select “View Certificate” from the menu. The certificate will appear. Click the “Print” button at the top of the certificate.
For facilities services staff, please work with your supervisor for potential different work assignments or required safety training plans.
With the approval of your supervisor, employees may request time off using their vacation, personal or compensatory time accruals on March 25.
