The S&T Writing Center is offering two unique Halloween contests for all Miners.

1. Socially-Distanced Trick-or-Treat Design Contest:

The S&T Writing Center is offering a unique Halloween contest for all students. Come up with a prototype for a device that can give out candy to trick-or-treaters in a socially-distanced manner. Maybe it’s some sort of cannon, a take on the potato gun, a rowing oar with a candy bowl duct-taped to it, or anything else! Winners will be selected by the Writing Center staff based on ingenuity and spirit.

1st-place will receive a $15 gift card to Public House Brewing, 2nd-place will receive a $10 gift card to Public House.

Contest guidelines: Submissions must be brought into the Writing Center for at least one consultation prior to entry (www.mst.mywconline.com). Official entries can be submitted to Writing Center Director, Phillip Bode at pbode@mst.edu.

Prototype guidelines: At least one photo/drawing of the candy give-away device with a 150-200 word abstract describing said device.

2. Halloween Costume Contest:

The S&T Writing Center is hosting a Halloween costume contest for all members of the S&T community. Provide an illustration or photo of your prospective Halloween costume, along with an 150-200 word abstract describing what the costume consists of and why it should be considered for “best costume.”

Winners will be selected by the Writing Center staff based on ingenuity and spirit. 1st-place will receive a $15 gift card to Public House Brewing, 2nd-place will receive a $10 gift card to Public House.

Submission guidelines: Costume proposals must be brought into the Writing Center for at least one consultation prior to entry (www.mst.mywconline.com). Official entries can be submitted to Writing Center Director, Phillip Bode at pbode@mst.edu.

The entry deadline for both contests is October 30th of 2020, 9am. Winners will be notified on October 31.
