Protect yourself from employment scams

University Police report an increase in fraudulent emails and text messages targeting members of the campus community. These messages often claim to offer part-time or work-from-home employment opportunities.

Be cautious of any opportunity that asks you to deposit a check and send a portion of the money elsewhere. These scams often involve counterfeit checks, leaving victims responsible for repaying the funds.

If you have questions about the legitimacy of a job offer or solicitation, contact University Police at 573-341-4300. Campus employment opportunities are advertised through Human Resources and university departments.
