S&T’s Chem-E-Car Design Team’s two entries into the April 12-13 American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) regional competition finished second and third. The high finishes qualified the team for a trip to the national 2019 AlChE Student Conference in Orlando, Florida, Nov. 8-10.

The competition required students to build a shoe-box-sized car that travels a specified distance carrying a specified water load. The car must be powered and stop without brakes or timing mechanisms and use only chemical reactions that the students control.
