Amanda Kossuth, graduate services specialist for graduate studies, presented “Continuous Improvement: A Journey in Campus Engagement” at the 73rd annual meeting of the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools on April 5 in Indianapolis. Her presentation reviewed the development of a continuous improvement cycle within an accreditation period, highlighting the evolution of assessment of graduate-level learning through a standardized campuswide assessment initiative.

Read More »S&T named ‘best value college,’ ranks high in ROI report
Missouri S&T continues to garner recognition for providing a high return on investment for students. S&T was ranked the best value college in Missouri and seventh-best in the nation by SmartAsset.com, a new ranking website that determines its top schools by examining tuition, student living costs, graduates’ starting salary, scholarship and grant offerings, and retention rate. According to the 2017 PayScale College ROI Report, S&T ranks eighth in the nation for ROI, sixth among public universities for in-state students and first among Missouri colleges and universities.

- Aaron Boots, a junior in electrical engineering and a member of S&T’s Amateur Radio Club, is pictured and mentioned in a magazine published by AARL, the national association for amateur radio.

Maples named interim chancellor-designate
Dr. Christopher Maples, president emeritus of the Oregon Institute of Technology, has been named interim chancellor of Missouri S&T. University of Missouri System President Mun Choi announced the appointment Friday, April 28, during the UM System Board of Curators meeting on S&T’s campus.

Chancellor Cheryl B. Schrader presented an update of Missouri S&T’s Campus Master Plan to the University of Missouri System Board of Curators during the board’s meeting at S&T on April 27. Highlights of the plan include:
- improved athletics facilities
- a new clearly defined “arrival district” off of U.S. Highway 63
- student housing
- academic districts
- continued growth of corporate partnerships with further development of Innovation Park
Open forum planned today for CEC dean candidate
The campus community is invited to an open forum with Dr. Richard Wlezien 3-4 p.m. today (Monday, May 1), in Room 204 McNutt Hall. Because of road closures due to flooding, traffic has been rerouted and is heavier than usual through Rolla. Check the Missouri Department of Transportation travel website, http://traveler.modot.org/map/, for updates on road closures and conditions. University Police reminds the campus community to avoid low-water crossings during periods of flooding. Just a few inches of water can be enough to carry a vehicle off the road. Turn around, don’t drown.

In honor of employees and their contributions to the university, Missouri S&T’s Staff Council will host Staff Appreciation Day Wednesday, May 17. The theme is “Joe Miner and the Chocolate Factory.” Events will include employee teamwork games, paint ’n sip, Bingo and door prizes. You’ve won the golden ticket to the celebration, kicking off with an opening ceremony at 9 a.m. at the Havener Center. Staff awards will be presented at the ceremony.
