Hogan to discuss use of clickers

“Clickers in the Classroom: An Effective Teaching Tool or a Frivolous Piece of “Technology?” will be the topic of the Faculty Learning Community at noon Friday, April 8, in Room 103 Centennial Hall, sponsored by the Center for Educational Research and Teaching Innovation (CERTI) and Educational Technology (EdTech).
Dr. John Hogan, associate professor of geology, will discuss why he continues to use clickers in both large enrollment classes (150+) as well as classes of less than 20 students to promote discussion, assist higher level thinking, engage students, provide instant assessment and foster peer learning. He will also present student perceptions regarding clickers based on several years of surveys he has done in his classes.
