Dr. Simon J. Bronner, Maxwell C. Weiner Distinguished Visiting Professor of Humanities, will present a lecture 3-4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, in St. Pat’s C of the Havener Center. His talk is titled “In Search of the Modern Hercules: The Material Culture of Strength.” A reception will follow the lecture.

Weiner Distinguished Professor of Humanities Charlotte Matthews will host a poetry seminar series from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesdays in the English and technical communication library, Room 225 Humanities and Social Sciences Building. The group, open to students, faculty and staff, will look at contemporary poems and see what makes them tick. Later, the group may take on a workshop format with participants submitting original work for feedback. The first meeting will be on Tuesday, Feb. 25. Snacks will be provided.
