S&T joins JED to support mental health, committee leads efforts

Missouri S&T has joined JED Campus in support of student well-being and mental health. The program is a nationwide initiative of The JED Foundation (JED) designed to help schools evaluate and strengthen their mental health, substance misuse and suicide prevention programs to safeguard individual and community health. Beware of scams – if it seems too good to be true, it is

University Police recently received reports of scams targeting students from scammers who claim to be employers at reputable companies. Scammers will use fraudulent links and email addresses that appear to be from legitimate companies. They ultimately “hire” the students but then send them counterfeit or stolen checks and ask the students to keep their salary and send back the remainder of the funds from the check.

Phone call about a warrant? It’s a scam

University Police received reports recently of phone scams. The scam involves a caller who is supposedly representing a government agency, such as the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) or the Federal Reserve. As part of the scam, the caller tells the individual that an active warrant was issued for their arrest because of debt.
