Libre receives President’s Award for Innovative Teaching

University of Missouri System President Mun Choi presented Dr. Nicolas Libre with the President’s Award for Innovative Teaching at a faculty meeting March 22. Libre is an assistant teaching professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering, and the first recipient of 10 awards that the president will give in 2018.

Register by April 30 for Title IX conference

UM System, McGraw-Hill Education expand access to affordable course materials

The University of Missouri System and learning science company McGraw-Hill Education announced on March 7 an agreement that will increase student access to affordable course materials. The cost of all McGraw-Hill Education electronic textbooks will be lowered by an additional 38 percent to meet the university system’s definition of low cost.

UM System offers faculty success program

Tenured faculty and tenure-track faculty can apply for a 12-week Faculty Success Program. The University of Missouri System is a member of the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD), which provides the training. Applicants can choose to participate in a cohort during the summer 2018, fall 2018 or spring 2019 semester. Scholarships are available through the UM System. Applications are due Sunday, April 1. Pre-retirement seminar planned tomorrow

Learn about retirement planning and the University of Missouri System Retirement Plan at a seminar 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, March 13. The free seminar will be broadcast via telepresence in Room 201A Curtis Laws Wilson Library. It is designed for faculty and staff who plan to retire in the next 10 years.

Apply by March 23 for social justice training

The University of Missouri System diversity, equity and inclusion office will sponsor training with faculty from the Social Justice Training Institute Monday, April 9, and Tuesday, April 10 in Columbia. The training, “Creating an Inclusive, Socially Just Campus,” is open to faculty, staff and graduate students from across the UM System and will be capped at 35 participants. Applications are due by Friday, March 23. Apply online.
