Twenty-seven Missouri S&T faculty members were honored for excellence and achievement in research, service and teaching during an awards ceremony Feb. 13 on campus. Each award winner received a monetary stipend funded by industry and alumni contributions.

41 S&T faculty members honored for outstanding teaching

Forty-one faculty members have received the Outstanding Teaching Award for 2016-17. The winners were recognized at a ceremony in November. The Outstanding Teaching Award is given each year to faculty members by the Outstanding Teaching Award committee, which bases its selections on student evaluations.

Flori named in ‘Icons of Education’

Dr. Ralph E. Flori Jr., program head of petroleum engineering, has been named one of Ingram’s magazine’s 2015 “Icons of Education” for his contributions to Missouri S&T and to STEM education through Project Lead The Way and summer camps. “At Missouri S&T, we help dreams come true,” Flori says in the Ingram’s article. New roles for Ralph Flori

Dr. Ralph E. Flori Jr., chair and Gulf Oil Professor of geosciences and geological and petroleum engineering, will step down from that position effective Dec. 31 to coordinate strategic planning initiatives within the College of Engineering and Computing. He will also assume greater responsibility leading Missouri S&T’s Project Lead The Way (PLTW) efforts. He has served as affiliate director of Missouri’s PLTW since 2005.
