Forums planned for vice chancellor for research and dean of graduate studies candidates
Candidates for Missouri S&T’s position of vice chancellor for research and dean of graduate studies will visit campus beginning this week. Students, faculty and staff are invited to meet the candidates during open forums at the following times:
- Candidate 1, 2:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 13, in the Carver-Turner Room of the Havener Center
- Candidate 2, 2:30-3:30 p.m. Monday, March 19, in St. Pat’s A of the Havener Center
- Candidate 3, 2:30-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, in St. Pat’s B of the Havener Center
Prior to each candidate’s visit, the candidate’s bio and curriculum vitae will be posted at provost.mst.edu/vcrdgs-search. Attendees may also provide feedback at provost.mst.edu/vcrdgs-search following each forum.

- 2 p.m. Monday, March 5, in the Missouri-Ozark Room of the Havener Center
Strategic plan open forums set for March 5
Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to attend an open forum on Missouri S&T’s strategic plan and provide feedback on a revised draft plan presented by Missouri S&T’s Strategic Plan Committee. The forums, previously planned for March 6, have been rescheduled for March 5. The open forums will be held:
- 9 a.m. Monday, March 5, in the Missouri-Ozark Room of the Havener Center
- 2 p.m. Monday, March 5, in the Missouri-Ozark Room of the Havener Center
Activity analysis survey opens Monday
The University of Missouri System’s activity analysis survey will open Monday, Feb. 19, but employees can begin preparing now. Visit the UM System’s website for a survey checklist plus other resources. If you were unable to attend Missouri S&T’s open forum on Feb. 13, you can watch a video recording online.

All staff members are invited to an open forum 10:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, in Leach Theatre to learn about and discuss the upcoming University of Missouri System activity analysis survey. Dr. Christopher Maples, interim chancellor, and Cuba Plain, interim vice chancellor of finance and operations, will lead the discussion. Missouri S&T will undergo a comprehensive evaluation visit with the Higher Learning Commission Monday, Oct. 8, and Tuesday, Oct. 9, by a team representing the commission. In preparation for the site visit, the campus community is invited to review and provide feedback on materials created for the evaluation by Wednesday, Feb. 28. Additionally, faculty, staff and students are invited to learn about the accreditation process and provide feedback at open forums, which will be held:
- 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, in St. Pat’s Ballroom of the Havener Center
- 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 14, in St. Pat’s Ballroom of the Havener Center
- 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, in St. Pat’s Ballroom of the Havener Center

Policy open forum planned today
Share your thoughts on a proposed policy and updates to a current policy at an open forum 3-4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, in St. Pat’s Ballroom A and B in the Havener Center. The discussion will focus on a proposed policy to establish guidelines on hoverboards and a proposed update for Missouri S&T’s current policy on developing policies. Share your thoughts on donated leave program
The University of Missouri System is looking into the possibility of creating a donated leave program, and Missouri S&T representatives of the UM System committee want to hear thoughts on the program from faculty and staff. Cuba Plain, interim vice chancellor of finance and operations, will host open forums at the following times and locations:
- 10:30-11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 6, in St. Pat’s Ballroom A
- 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, in St. Pat’s Ballroom B
In response to state budget outlook, Missouri S&T releases proposed budget plan
In response to reductions in state funding and an anticipated drop in international student enrollment, Missouri S&T is proposing a plan to reduce expenditures for fiscal year 2018, which begins July 1, in order to balance the budget. To meet this reduction, the university’s proposed plan would reduce administrative and staff positions by eliminating some vacant positions and, as necessary, through layoffs. The plan would also restructure the university’s upper administration and some non-academic programs to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
