Dr. William Schonberg, a professor of civil engineering, has recently completed his second Fulbright project with the University of Aruba in Oranjestad, Aruba, in late 2023. He is a two-time participant in Fulbright programs for the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and World Learning.

Recent graduate earns Fulbright grant to teach in Russia

Owen Smith, a 2017 physics graduate, has received a Fulbright scholarship grant to study in Russia from the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. Smith will be an English-language teaching assistant at a Russian university for the academic year from September 2018 to June 2019.

Schonberg named Fulbright distinguished chair in Australia

Dr. William Schonberg, professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering, has been named a Fulbright Distinguished Chair in Advanced Science and Technology. His appointment begins in January 2019 at the Defence Science and Technology Group, a government agency in Melbourne, Australia.

Oerther selected to attend 2017 Fulbright alumni conference

Dr. Daniel Oerther, professor of civil, architectural, and environmental engineering, has been selected to participate in the U.S. Department of State Alumni Thematic International Exchange Seminar (Alum TIES) titled “The New Frontiers of Global Public Health.” The conference will be held Feb. 8-11 at Emory University and the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta.

Oerther receives fourth Fulbright award

Dr. Daniel Oerther, professor of environmental engineering, has been selected as a Fulbright Specialist Roster Candidate from 2016-2021. The Fulbright Specialist Program is a recent innovation that promotes links between U.S. scholars and professionals and their counterparts at host institutions overseas through short-term exchanges of two to six weeks in duration with up to three exchanges to different countries occurring in a five year window.

Bruening named Fulbright scholar

Dr. Michael Bruening, associate professor of history and political science, has been awarded a 2016-17 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Grant to France. The grant will allow him to conduct research during the fall 2016 semester in Paris, where he will be associated with the Centre Roland Mousnier for Early Modern History at the University of Paris-Sorbonne. Bruening also received a University of Missouri Research Board grant to help support his research in France.
