Sneed named to journal editorial board

Dr. Lesley Sneed, associate professor and Stirrat Faculty Scholar in civil, architectural and environmental engineering, has been appointed to the International Editorial Board of the Journal of Composites for Construction. The journal is an American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) publication. It features original research papers, review papers and case studies on the use of fiber-reinforced composite materials in construction.

Civil engineering leader to speak today

The new president-elect of the nation’s oldest engineering society will share her vision of the profession’s future in a guest lecture. Robin A. Kemper, a senior risk engineering consultant for Zurich Services Corp., will serve as president of the American Society of Civil Engineers starting in 2018. Her lecture, “Engineering the Future,” begins at 2 p.m. today (Thursday, Oct. 26) in Room 125 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. Get more details.

Holmes named ASCE Fellow

Dr. Robert Holmes, adjunct professor of civil, architectural and environmental engineering, has been elected a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers. ASCE Fellows are decided by their professional accomplishments and election. Less than 3.5 percent of ASCE members are named Fellow.
