Havener Center’s northwest entrance to close temporarily

The northwest entrance to Havener Center, on the Bishop Avenue side, will be closed for exterior repairs starting Tuesday, Oct. 25. The work is expected to be completed by the end of the week.

Parking lot to close Saturday for fireworks

The parking lot next to the Engineering Research Laboratory, Area M Lot 36, will be closed until 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, for a fireworks display during the Diwali Celebration of Lights. The lot needs to be empty by 5 p.m.; any unauthorized vehicles in the lot at this time will be towed.

National intelligence leader to speak at S&T on Oct. 21

Stephanie O’Sullivan, principal deputy director of national intelligence and a 1982 civil engineering graduate of Missouri S&T, will speak about her journey from working as a civil engineer to leading the U.S. in national intelligence. The campus community is invited to “Stephanie O’Sullivan: A Leadership Story” from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, in Room 121 Butler-Carlton Civil Engineering Hall. It is presented by the civil, architectural and environmental engineering department and the Society of Women Engineers.

Tobacco free? Claim your insurance discount by Oct. 28

Annual enrollment began Oct. 17 for benefit-eligible faculty and staff and will end Friday, Oct. 28. Enroll now through myHR. If you certify that you are tobacco free or in an approved cessation program, you will receive a discount of $50 per month on your medical insurance premiums. In August, Missouri S&T became a tobacco-free campus to make the university a healthy and welcoming place for all. Quitting tobacco can mean more money in your pocket.

Drop by the Curtis Laws Wilson Library to view the works of 48 student artists and vote on your favorite piece of art. The winner will receive the People’s Choice Award and a prize of $100. The library art committee also will award a Best of Show prize of $200 and an honorable mention prize of $50.
