Nicholai Buechter, a sophomore in biological sciences, died Aug. 29. Visitation will be held 2-6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, at Miller Funeral Home in Washington, Missouri. The funeral home is located at 1206 Jefferson Street in Washington. Interment will be private. Roberts, Wlezien to co-chair search for vice chancellor for research, dean of graduate studies

Missouri S&T will soon begin a national search for the position of vice chancellor for research and dean of graduate studies. This position results from faculty suggestions to improve the integration of research and scholarship with graduate education. Combining the two offices and creating a vice chancellor-level position to oversee the efforts demonstrates the importance of both research and graduate studies at the senior leadership level.

Cannon training planned this afternoon

Army ROTC will conduct cannon training noon-2 p.m. today (Thursday, Aug. 31) outside Harris Hall. Blanks will be used to conduct training. No live ammunition will be fired. Do not be alarmed if you hear loud reports and see white smoke in front of Harris Hall. A University Police officer will be on site during the training.
